RECAP - FSN Competition Blog
Short summary
A real roller coaster of emotions!
We started the competition on a strong note, needing only minor fixes during battery and mechanical scrutineering, and even managed to pass them the very next day. Everything was going smoothly—until we had to go through high-voltage checks during electrical scrutineering. A problem was discovered in the battery, which meant we lost our accumulator sticker again and had to scramble for more fixes.
Thankfully, we pulled it all together just in time to participate in all the events on Wednesday. We kicked things off with our first-ever skidpad run in FEB’s history, followed immediately by autocross. That’s when we discovered only two of our motors were working—and during the run, one of those failed, meaning we had to limp through with just a single motor, losing drive completely in our first run.
Determined to figure out the issue, we made some quick setting changes and tried again. This time, we managed to complete the autocross run (another first in FEB’s history!) but were still running with only two working motors. With time running out, we rushed to fix the motor issues before the acceleration event. With just ten minutes left on the clock, we finally got everything working and went for our runs. Two fantastic runs had us cheering—only to later find out we were 0.3 over the power limit, leading to a double disqualification.
The team’s mood was mixed: frustrated and disappointed by the DSQs, yet proud that we had made history by completing all dynamic events in our first-ever competition.
Then came endurance day. Our slower autocross time (understandable with only 1.5 motors) meant we had to start as one of the first teams. Managing the battery carefully and driving as efficiently as possible, the tension was sky-high. But we did it! With a clean driver change and plenty of lift-and-coast, we successfully finished endurance on our very first try.
We were already thrilled with everything we’d achieved, but the prize ceremony brought even more good news. Thanks to our careful energy management, we secured 3rd place in efficiency, bringing home a trophy! To top it all off, we placed 6th overall with more than 500 points in total.
This was an incredible start to the season—now we’re ready to push even further!
